PRACTICE

Jeremiah Onifadé (born in Kaduna, Nigeria) makes paintings, sculptures, videos, and performances that examine the relationships between human emotions, actions, and reactions within societies. Drawing on personal references and art historical, he created ORBS and CODS which characterizes brown figures floating in a multi-colored sanctuary of their own as a visual language to explore with.

As a means of catharsis, Onifadé interrogates the human “cultural identity”, “mind” and “belief” as he constructs a confluence of surrealism and abstraction which explores the politics, history, and the socio-economic state of the environment he grew up in within Nigeria while mapping it against his present cross-cultural life. His paintings and sculptures are often made with acrylic, oil, ijebu garri, wood and fabric.

Jeremiah Onifadé, lives and works in Dallas, TX.
